Antonio Valencia will return to home country Ecuador

Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia will return to home country Ecuador and join Liga Deportiva Universitaria on a free transfer after his contract expires at 30 June this year.

Manchester United refused to give a contract extension to Valencia

Valencia helped the Red Devils win two Premier Leagues, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Europa League and four Community Shields.

Manchester United board refused to give a contract extension to the 33-year old right-back, and will let him leave after 30 June. His departure ends his one-decade career with Man United.

He came to Manchester United in 2009 after the club paid £17m to Wigan Athletic. He had then made 339 appearances for United and scored 25 goals.

He also represented the Ecuador national team. He made 96 caps for his national team and scored 11 goals.
