David Silva, who claimed that he will leave the Etihad next season, likely for boyhood club Las Palmas, will be given a one-year farewell of captaincy by Pep Guardiola and the club's board.
He will be honored the captaincy role before his exit in the end of the 2019-20 season, replacing Vincent Kompany who left for Anderlecht to be a player-manager. When Vincent Kompany was captain, David Silva was a vice-captain.

He had been in the club since 2010 and until now, made 396 appearances for the Etihad. He put 71 goals and 129 assists to his name throughout his career in the Premier League side.
He helped the Blues win the Premier League four times, FA Cup twice, and the EFL Cup four times. The Spaniard also represented Spain, winning the World Cup in 2010 and the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012. He bagged 35 goals and 31 assists with him before his retirement from international football after the World Cup 2018.
