Diego Godin is officially an Inter Milan player

Uruguay defender Diego Godin left Wanda Metropolitano for Italian giant Inter Milan. One of the best center-back in the world, he captained Atletico Madrid and also the Uruguay national team.

Inter Milan had announced Diego Godin as their new player.

After making an extremely difficult choice to leave Los Rojiblancos when his contract ended, he will sign a 3-year contract with the Milanese club, which ties him at the Serie A side until 2022.

His 9-year service for the La Liga club will make him an Atletico Madrid legend, helping the club win La Liga once, Copa del Rey once, Supercopa de España once, and the Europa League twice.

He was recently linked with Manchester United when Jose Mourinho wanted a center-back, however, he decided to sign an extension contract that kept him in the Spanish capital until this year.

However, he mentioned that 'now it is not the time to go'.

"I refused Manchester United bid one year ago because I decided to stay at Atlético Madrid. Now - one year later - it's time to go," the Uruguayan said.
