Emery's problem now after Koscielny incident

Koscielny refuses to join his team to a tour to the US after being rejected a mutual contract termination.

He started 24 games and featured in a total of 29 matches. He is still an important player for Unai Emery, despite his age.

In total, the Frenchman has made 255 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 22 goals since joining from Ligue 2 club Lorient for £10m in mid 2010. Arsenal will face Bayern Munich in California at July 18, their first pre-season game. Next, the Gunners will ace Fiorentina and Real Madrid.

Arsenal's captaincy question is truly a confusing one for Unai Emery. This situation leaves Arsenal's captaincy blank. The Spanish manager made a captaincy group of five players since last season: Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka.

With Ozil not wanted by Emery, and both Cech and Ramsey leaving, the situation leaves Granit Xhaka as the only possible option, however the Switzerland international is not really a big name among Arsenal fans. The other possible candidates here is Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal will give the 33-year-old a 'disciplinary proceeding'.
