Fernandinho will be given new contract

Manchester City defensive midfielder is thought to have lost his position after the coming of Rodri, a £62.5m signing from Atletico Madrid.

As mentioned earlier, Fernandinho can also play as a center-back and so his services is still needed by the Blues. His contract will expire in 2020, however, Pep Guardiola is sure that he still has his abilities to offer to the squad, despite turning 34 last May.

He is expected to pen a new contract soon.

International duties have been in his job list so he is expected to return to the club's pre-season training late.

Manchester City insiders claimed that despite his age and Rodri's signing, he will not end his career as a City player since his signing from Shakhtar Donetsk in July 2013.

The Brazilian and his family are not newcomers and are already established in the city.
