Juventus has entered the race to sign Romelu Lukaku

Updated: Jul 9, 2019

Serie A clubs Juventus and Inter Milan will compete for Romelu Lukaku's services.

Juventus has made contact with Manchester United regarding a possible transfer for the Belgian, as he is keen to find 'new challenges' and regular football after Ole Gunnar Solksjaer told him that he is no longer first-choice. The Norwegian prefers Marcus Rashford as main striker.

Maurizio Sarri wants to strengthen his new club's squad, despite already having Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot, Gianluigi Buffon, Luca Pellegrini, and Merih Demiral as newcomers.

The Serie A champion is confident that they can hijack Inter's plans to sign him. The Red Devils values the 26-year old at €80m.

Juventus has recently told Higuain that he is free to leave, despite his contract ending at 2022. The Turin club claimed that they are surplus of attackers. This will mean that the Belgian will not have much game time if he joined Juventus.

Lukaku's response to Inter's interest:

"It’s good to see Conte joined Inter, for me he is the best manager in the world," the Belgium international spoke. "I’ve already taken a decision about the future but I can’t reveal it because I have a contract with Manchester United and because I respect the club."

"I am a big fan of Serie A, who knows me is aware that I wanted to play in the Premier League and that I also want to play in Serie A. Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Italy last season, Maurizio Sarri will go to Juventus, Carlo Ancelotti is at Naples, the Serie A will be thrilling next season.

"My agent will speak with Manchester United. I’ve already taken my decision. The club need to decide but my agent wants the best for me, I am sure it’ll be an agitated summer."
