Liverpool consider bringing Coutinho back to Anfield

Philippe Coutinho made a move to Barcelona from Liverpool in early 2018 for £145m, and became one of the most expensive signings in football history. However, his performance for the Catalan doesn't equalise with the transfer fee that Barcelona paid.

Coutinho underperformed in Barcelona

This cause Barca to consider whether to sell the 27-year old. He admitted he currently doesn't know his future in Camp Nou.

”My future, I do not know,” Coutinho said. I do not know, the future nobody knows, I’m with national team and I just want to help Brazil.”

Coutinho is still focusing on winning the Copa America with Brazil

He is a subject of bully by Barcelona fans in social media, however, he admitted that he didn't perform as expected.

"Honestly, it wasn't a good season. It didn't produce what I wanted, it didn't go as I hoped," Coutinho said. "But I hope it serves me as an example, as a lesson so that I want more, concentrate even more to be able to succeed. Here with the national team there's always the same responsibility: showing the right commitment to be able to play'.

"Whether a good or bad season it doesn't change anything: the desire to win is always the same, or maybe even more so."

Manchester United, Chelsea, and PSG are rumored to be interested in signing the Brazilian. Unfortunate for Manchester United, Coutinho isn't keen in joining the Red Devils due to rivalry between Liverpool and United, and he wants to respect his former club. Chelsea isn't able to sign him because of their transfer ban, and PSG may be a destination since the Ligue 1 champions demand 2 Barca players for Neymar's exchange.

Coutinho's contract in Barcelona will expire at June 2023.

Liverpool board is currently planning on landing the former Inter man back to Anfield. After failing to win the Premier League but succeeding in winning the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp must bolster his squad to win as much trophies as possible.
