Manchester City identified Antony replacement but will not pursue him

Abdulkadir Omur

Manchester City's recent €20m bid for Sao Paulo teenager Antony recently got rejected.

City scouts has identified Turkish wonderkid Abdulkadir Omur as an alternative to the €30m-rated player. Omur currently plays for Super Lig club Trabzonspor, which is also his boyhood club.

He had a wonderful 2018-19 season in Turkey, scoring 5 goals and adding 10 assists in 32 matches.

The Blues is keen on buying a young player and loan him to Sporting to strengthen both clubs' partnership.

However, reports from Portugal emerged that the Premier League champion would not be involved in Omur's pursuit, and it seems that both clubs will just try helping each other involving their own players, such as a lower fee for each other's player(s) or player(s) exchange; any deal which benefits both sides.

Their cooperation will not mean that the Blues would pay for the young Turkish to come to Lisbon, since it violates the regulations regarding third parties.

Even if either City or Sporting are interested and very keen to get his signature, then either pursuer would have to pay by themself for the 20-year-old then loan him to their partner.

Sporting is well-known to have created world-class talents, as seen by Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Joao Moutinho, and now Bruno Fernandes.
