Manchester United fend off by Sporting's asking price for Bruno Fernandes

After weeks of rumors to sign Bruno Fernandes, it looks like Manchester United is ready to back off the signing of Bruno Fernandes.

According to Portuguese media Correiro da Manha, the Red Devils refused to pay above £50m for Fernandes, who, though impressed, has no experience of playing in top leagues. Meanwhile, Sporting, unwilling to lose a key man, set his price at £70m, which made United unwilling to splash all the money for the 24-year-old.

After Harry Maguire's signing from Leicester City for £80m, United would focus on Bruno Fernandes and upon knowing the Nations League winner's price tag, the Red Devils must risk losing the chance to sign a top target.

Bruno Fernandes is expected to replace departing Ander Herrera, meanwhile, Real Madrid target Paul Pogba is expected to be replaced with Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if the Frenchman does move.
