Rodri has paid his release clause to Atletico Madrid

The title may seem strange, however, the La Liga rule states that the player will deposit the release fee to La Liga. La Liga will then pass it to the club.

Manchester City has triggered his €70m release clause by lending the money to Rodri's representatives who will deposit it in La Liga. The Spanish first-tier league will pass the money to the Madrid club.

Rodri will be an official Manchester City player after he signed the contract. How long will the contract be is still undisclosed.
